I still like the 15" size over the smaller sizes so this was the way to go for me.       I received this laptop about four days ago and still in the process of removing and loading software.ASUS N56VJ-DH71 15.6-Inch Full-HD 1080P Laptop Started with the standard operating procedure, Windows updates and removing McAfee (this requires a special removal tool from the McAfee website to do a clean uninstall).ASUS N56VJ-DH71 15.6-Inch Full-HD 1080P Laptop Had trouble with the wireless connection crashing and had to call Asus customer support who directed my to their website to download a new driver for the Atheros AR9485-EG wireless adaptor.ASUS N56VJ-DH71 15.6-Inch Full-HD 1080P Laptop Seems to have taken care of the problem from what I can tell. 1920 x 1080 resolution is nice - most models with that resolution are $1,200 or more.... 750 GB and 6 GB ram - great specs.ASUS N56VJ-DH71 15.6-Inch Full-HD 1080P Laptop Having some problem with the spacebar. So far it has been a wise decision.

     When I opened the box I was impressed with how thin and light the laptop is. Compared to my Dell XPS 15 this thing is tiny but packs a screen just 1.3" smaller.ASUS VivoBook S400CA-DH51T 14-Inch Touch Ultrabook While it is light weight it still feels very solid in your hands.      I have several Asus products and have always been happy and satisfied with them...until now. ASUS A55VD-AH71 15.6-Inch Laptop The touchpad jumps around, the Asus power manager interferes constantly regardless of the settings, video only wants to run on the internal graphics (one reason I bought it was for the external graphics) once it hibernates it locks up, sometimes to the point the battery needs pulled.

    This is a review of the Asus laptop, not Windows 8. I'm a retired computer professional and I've had over a dozen different laptops over the years, from economy models to the top-of-the-line (so I have a large frame of reference). ASUS K55N-DS81 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) I'm really pleased with this laptop -- it's a great value and I really don't need any more power or features for what I do these days.ASUS K55N-DS81 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) I use it mostly for web browsing, Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint), Photoshop, iTunes management of a huge music library, and email. I'm "on my computer" over 8 hours a day.ASUS K55N-DS81 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) For those purposes, this laptop is serving me well at a great price. I looked at a lot of others in the same price range and decided on this one for these reasons: a good processor (I don't think I saw any faster ones in this price range), 500GB disk drive (I really don't need more space and I have larger external USB drives if I ever do), a decent integrated graphics adapter, 3 USB ports including USB 3.0, an HDMI port, VGA output for non-digital TVs and monitors (not found on many current laptops but it's still useful), DVD burner, a pretty long battery life, and a 1-year warranty on accidental drops and spills.
